i thank you Lord for your wonderful mercy
that you chose me while i was still your enemy
you brought me out of dark waters where i was drowning in my transgressions
and broke off these chains through repentance and my guilty confession
with tears of freedom i was baptized into your Name
your Holy Spirit taking away the guilt and the shame
now you beckon me into your arms of grace
so now and forever will i ever seek your face
i thank you Lord for molding and refining me through the fire
that i may emerge as an empty vessel to be used solely for your desire
that in your rebuke i find the truth,
your discipline showing me the way
to bring you more and more glory with each passing day
for burnt offerings and scarifice was not always right
but a life of obedience was your hearts delight
obedience in worship and worship through obedience
not to follow you only out of mere convenience
that if even after all this i was still bound for hell
i still bring you praise and worship just as well
because this faith, this life, this world is not made for me
but for God alone who deserves all the glory
that our happiness is not the end of all being
and the end does not justify the mean
but the end of all being is for the glory of God alone
who is seated in heaven above all He is enthroned
so teach me Lord to follow your ways
and bring me back Lord when my heart begins to stray
fill me Lord but not for my own sake
but for your glory Lord this prayer i make
